Philosophy

Think, sketch, make, document and then do it all again and again...

The integration of form and surface drives my thought process. I use a combination of thrown, slab and altered pieces to create vessels and sculptural wall pieces. The surface imagery acts as an emotional vehicle to carry the colors. My pieces are united by black carbon footprints that mingle with my muted color palette and linear footprints. These hollow clay pieces are either fired in a raku kiln or a wood fired saggar kiln. For the last five years I have explored the relationship of sculptural forms as shown with my Neolithic disc wall pieces. They mount on the wall with weathered wood and antique found objects to accentuate their implied antiquity.
